Pothole Patrol No More?

At the start of Mayor Shirley Franklin’s tenure as Mayor, she touted her major improvements in the City of Atlanta to include a “Pothole Posse”- a crew that would repair potholes within 24 hours of the City receiving a call.  Now today, two 1/2 weeks after I first contacted the City of Atlanta about the bump I hit everyday driving home, I am still waiting for a response.

The growing nuisance has made it’s home in the Middle of 10th Street across from Georgia Tech– with little room for cars to see it.  The traffic often prevents drivers from advance warning about the danger ahead until it’s too late, and you sink into the hole, and risk damaging your tires or your car.  No doubt other drivers have hit the very same hole in the road.  The last time I called the City a week and a half ago (yes, I have made multiple calls), the woman who answered the phone said someone else had reported that pot hole to them the very same day.

Property taxes are going up for all Atlanta Residents, and when those increases went into place, citizens were told services in the City would be restored.

So what about the Pot-hole posse? Are they back to repairing our roads?  If you see a pothole in Atlanta you can call the City at 1-800-POT-HOLE. And if the pothole is not filled within 24 hours, I want to know about it.  Email me at wendysaltzman@cbsatlanta.com
